Protecting the future by preserving the past.
Founded in 2010 to honor the legacy of Elizabeth Vann Moore (1912-2010), the EVM Foundation is dedicated to accurately interpreting local history and preserving historic sites and buildings in Edenton and Chowan County. In 2022 the Foundation took over the management of Hayes Farm and the surrounding 200 acres and is now responsible for the funding and directing the ongoing restoration of Hayes and 23 outbuildings. The EVM Foundation has also played an integral role in the stabilization of Martinique, a 1752 structure, the establishment of the Edenton Farmers Market; and periodically sponsors seminars and lectures focused on the role of historic preservation in Edenton.
